The course covers all the essential basic life support and illness management topics found upon most first aid courses as well as key sports topics. These include systematic injury assessment, when/how to move casualties, return to play decisions, when to and when not to use ice, managing winding, possible compartment syndrome and other sports related first aid concerns.

Emphasis is placed on injuries specific to your situation and includes the incident management skills required to deal with situations safely and systematically.

Ideal for personal trainers, group exercise instructors, sports therapists, massage therapists, sports coaches, parents, volunteers, and for those working or involved in the sport, exercise and fitness industry.

Core Content

Nature of Training

This is an active and practical course that involves rolling around on the floor and some occasional close contact with another learner. Learners need to take a full and active part and comply with our Covid-19 mitigation measures. Please contact us prior to the course starting if you require a reasonable adjustment.

For safeguarding reasons, learners must be 18 years+ to join a public course. Please contact us if you are under 18 and would like to join as we may have some alternative options for you.

Dual Qualifications

Some learners require multiple qualifications. Additional qualifications may be gained by completing this training, avoiding the need to do multiple courses. Additional qualification available:

ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

This is an optional, additional accredited qualification, often required by places of work to meet their Health & Safety Executive (HSE) requirements.  This qualification is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). There is no additional training time required as all the assessment criteria are covered on the course. Learners receive an additional certificate valid for 3 years. This can be added as an additional optional item when booking and must be arranged in advance. The additional qualification fee is £20.

Certified by our Awarding Organisation ITC First and valid for 3 years. Electronic certificates are emailed out to learners approximately 2 weeks after the training. This fully accredited qualification is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

You need to do the full course again in 3 years time to revalidate. The HSE also strongly recommend that first-aiders attend an annual Basic Skills Refresher course (3 hours) to prevent skill fade and maintain confidence.

As an ever changing situation, Covid-19 has made the planning and delivery of courses very challenging and subject to change at late notice. We hope that all of our planned public courses can go ahead but if your course needs to be cancelled we will notify you at the earliest opportunity. We will do our best to offer you an alternative or provide a full refund. If you need to cancel your course place due to Covid-19, please contact us asap. We will either transfer your booking to another future course (subject to availability) or provide you with a full refund. Please ensure that any travel or accommodation arrangements are fully flexible.
