About Us

Elements First Aid is a fully regulated First Aid training centre based in Brighton, East Sussex. We are an experienced professional team, approved to deliver a range of accredited courses and qualifications through our Awarding Organisation ITC First.

Founded by Flora, it all began 15 years ago teaching lifesaving skills to ski and snowboard instructors in the Alps – the perfect combination of a lifesaving job with the Ambulance Service and a love of the mountains.

Our courses focus on real practical skills, tailored to your environment, so that you can remember what to do. From mountains to forests, schools to sporting venues, we look at all the ELEMENTS that make the First Aid challenging in your situation and deliver exceptional, memorable courses that are way more than just a tick in the box.

We want you to have the confidence to step in and help in a real emergency – because one day, it could make all the difference.

Founder / Centre Manager & Head of Training

Our inspirational, plate spinning, Centre Manager currently has almost 20 years of frontline 999 Ambulance experience with the busiest service in the world, meaning she’s always at the forefront of emergency care.

There probably isn’t a First Aid emergency that Flora hasn’t dealt with, so Elements First Aid is underpinned by her extensive clinical knowledge and real, current hands-on experience.

With a love for all things outdoor, Flora spends her downtime on the water or in the mountains. Whether it’s sailing, paddle boarding, snowboarding or trekking, she’s always up to something adventurous.

Genuinely the nicest guy you’ll ever meet, Richie is the backbone of Elements First Aid.  Although he broke it several years ago in a snowboarding accident, these days he’s pretty useful and manages all things logistical.

First Aid Trainer

Our totally fantastic Paediatric First Aid expert. After many years working as a registered Nurse in the NHS, Sarah has spent the last 16 years working in schools and colleges as part of the Community School Nursing team.

Mental Health First Aid Trainer

If you need to know anything about Mental Health (or fancy footwear), Jo is your girl. She’s also one of the most friendly, chatty all-round gorgeous ladies we know. As a frontline Mental Health Practitioner, and with over 20 years of frontline experience with the NHS, she’s at the cutting edge of Mental Health services and is passionate about raising awareness.

Assistant Trainer

With a background in psychology, social research, counselling and training for Relate, Maggie is our people person. Her beautiful, positive outlook on life is infectious. Keen to make a difference, she directed her training skills to First Aid and has become one of our rocks.

A former A&E Nurse, she’s the best ‘Debbie McGee’ any trainer could wish for. An awesome all-rounder, she’s never shy of a challenge and supports us in every way possible. She loves a First Aid gory story and is fascinated by all things medical.

Resus Manikin

One of the original members of the Team. At Elements we have a huge selection, from adults to babies plus our inflatable versions for when we train overseas.

Absolutely fantastic training course with Flora over the last couple of days! The course was fully adapted to keep everyone safe and sound but still managed to incorporate enough practical elements to keep us all busy and hands on. The info was delivered very well and Flora has so much knowledge and experience that every question or discussion had a clear and concise conclusion.

What a fab sports first aid course! Flora was amazing, super lovely and made first aid really interesting. I’ve come away feeling confident I could actually attempt to save a life. Will definitely be using Elements first aid to renew my training from now on. Everyone in Brighton in the wellness/fitness industry should be doing this course.

Flora really is excellent. I went to her last week for the second time, a 3 year refresher, because my first experience with her was so good. As it happened, the rest of the group was also already familiar with first aid. It seems to me that Flora reacted by making the course even more challenging, to meet the group better. As a result, I came away miles more confident than I have ever been before. It wasn't a refresher, she took me to another level. A really experienced, smart and fun trainer - I will always seek out Elements.

I can't believe I'm nearly 40 and have never done any first aid training! This course was so valuable, I now feel confident I can help with all manner of first aid needs. The course was delivered in a fun and friendly environment, out in the countryside. Flora was so knowledgeable and explained everything so it was easy to understand and practice. Thank you Flora! I highly recommend Elements First Aid to anyone and everyone.

Intensive but brilliant. I have been on other courses before but they were not as good and not as focussed on outdoor scenarios. The trainer's paramedic experience really helps because she can describe what might typically happen in a really wide range of scenarios. (Another friend has also raved about this course).

Completed a fantastic 6 hr training for First Aid in the Work place with Flora of Elements first aid at Unity Studio Brighton. She made it interesting, entertaining and relevant to all us yoga teachers and massage therapists. Lots of practical application and an abundance of Annie’s to try out our skills. Thank you.

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of the course. I learnt so much, with lots of hands on practice and plenty of fun along the way. Flora was so knowledgeable, supportive and encouraging. Thank you! I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Elements First Aid to anybody needing first aid training - whether learning from scratch or as a refresher.
