Description

Qualification:  ITC Level 3 Award in Outdoor First Aid Emergency Action (RQF)

Duration:        1 day / 8 hours plus breaks

Certificate:      Certified by ITC First and valid for 3 years

Learner age:    18 years +

Training and scenarios are based on being more than several minutes, up to several hours from help or a rescue team arriving. This course will give you the skills to cope with most major First Aid incidents giving you the confidence to step in and help when it really matters.

Suitable for

Some National Governing Body (NGB) instructor awards and anyone that works or spends time in the outdoors.

Core Content

Incident management, vital signs, recovery position, CPR including safe use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), drowning, choking, bleeding and shock.

Assessment

We’ll observe you throughout the course and make sure you’re completing all the practical tasks correctly. There’s no scary exam or question paper. You’ll need to be there for the full duration and get stuck in with all the practical work.

Nature of Training

Please be aware that this is an active and practical course involving some close physical contact with others. To achieve the full regulated qualification, learners will need to attend for the full duration, take a full and active part by participating in scenario based training and pass all the practical assessments. This includes rolling someone over into the recovery position and demonstrating 2 minutes of CPR on a manikin at floor level. Learners therefore need to be reasonably fit and able to bend down and kneel down on the floor several times throughout the day. Please contact us prior to the course starting if you are likely to require a reasonable adjustment to the training or assessment process.

Prerequisites

Learners must be 16 years+ to register for this qualification, however for safeguarding reasons, learners must be 18 years+ to join a public course. Please contact us if you are under 18 and would like to join as we may have some alternative options for you.

Dual Qualifications

Some learners require multiple qualifications. Additional qualifications may be gained by completing this training, avoiding the need to do multiple courses. Additional qualification available:

ITC Level 3 Award in Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)

This is an optional, additional accredited qualification, often required by places of work to meet their Health & Safety Executive (HSE) requirements.  This qualification is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF). There is no additional training time required as all the assessment criteria are covered on the two day course. Learners receive an additional certificate valid for 3 years. This can be added as an additional optional item when booking and must be arranged in advance. The additional qualification fee is £20.

Certificates

Certified by our Awarding Organisation ITC First and valid for 3 years. Electronic certificates are emailed out to learners approximately 2 weeks after the training. This fully accredited qualification is regulated by the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is part of the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

Revalidation

You need to do the full course again in 3 years time to revalidate. The HSE also strongly recommend that first-aiders attend an annual Basic Skills Refresher course (3 hours) to prevent skill fade and maintain confidence.
